Our school district is 417 sq miles which includes towns of Wausaukee, Athelstane, Silver Cliff, Wagner, Amberg, Middle Inlet, Porterfield and Village of Wausaukee. District is currently stable for now and continue to be debt free; no cash flow borrows and mill rate continues to go down. In 2008 started a ten-year referendum that ended in 2018, we were able to build the fund balance back from zero. We continue to be stable, but are on a downward trend right now. School Enrollment is important factor as far as funding. Covid Federal Monies were used mitigate cost of covid, along with updating air handling equipment and replace chiller unit at school. They have increased some staffing to include full time social worker position, other areas include a success coordinator, tech program, also Partnered with Reading Core for “reader intervention program” which is federally funded. Back Math Interventionist/ Behavior Coach; At risk program in the high school for students who struggle; additional staff in the middle school technology upgrades.

School continues to offer Career planning. He gave stats on percents of students that attended and or entered 4 yr college, tech college, work force, military. NWTC Partnership continues where our teachers teach NWTC Curriculum. We also have partnership with Northwoods program through NWTC also. Virtual learning is also offered. Some new sports have been added, along with club sports. Along with extra curriculars, staff is really good about offering after school opportunities as well. Daycare is doing well.
